Eight focuses of China's economy in 2006

Chinanews, Dec.1 - China's Conference on Economic Work closed today
stressed that to fulfill the economic work of next year, China should
fully put the Scientific View of Development into effect, adhere to the
driving force of reform and opening up, keep up with macro control and
manage to stabilize policies, undertake moderate adjustment, control the
overall situation, highlight key points, make overall plans while taking
all factors into account, pay attention to people's livelihood and leave
space in an active and reliable manner through the entire deployment.
CPC Central Committee and the State Council emphasized the following
eight tasks which China should fulfill next year.
First, China will carry on the stable financial monetary policies.
Second, the country will focus on expanding consumer needs and
strengthening control on fixed asset investment, strive to increase
income of urban and rural residents, spare no efforts to open up consumer
markets in rural areas, maintain reasonable investment scale, optimize
investment structure as well as stick to the control on newly started
projects.
Third, China will put greater emphasis on investment and reform, firmly
reinforce infrastructure construction in agriculture and rural areas,
deepen rural reform in full scale and facilitate construction of new
style rural areas.
Fourth, the country will accelerate regulation of industrial structure,
boost the harmonious development of regional economy, improve industrial
levels and technological standards and impel modulation of some
industries with overcapacity.
Fifth, China will reinforce resource saving and environmental protection.
Sixth, the national will intensify reform on economic systems and enhance
the level of opening to the world.
Seventh, China will accelerate development of science and technology,
education, health and culture.
Eighth, China will endeavor to solve the issues concerning benefits of
the masses.
