PetroChina set a record in crude oil output
www.chinanews.cn 2005-07-19 13:29:24
Chinanews, Beijing, July 18 (By Jia Quanxin) - Taking advantage of the
rising international oil prices and vigorous demand in the domestic
market, PetroChina boosted production and recorded a new high of 396
million barrels of crude output in the first half.
This year the Company boosted investment in oil and gas exploration,
making breakthroughs in exploring the Jidong shallow water area of Bohai
Bay Basin. It also made significant progress in exploring the
Jiyuan-Xifeng Area of Ordos Basin, the Daqing Xujiaweizi Area of Songliao
Basin, central Sichuan, and central Tarim Basin. These achievements
helped the Company lay a solid foundation for securing sustainable and
steady growth in oil and gas output.
By optimizing resource allocation and production management, the Company
achieved steady growth in oil refining in the first half of this year.
The Company processed 378.9 million barrels of crude oil, increasing 7.4%
year on year. It produced 10.72 million tons of gasoline and 21.646
million tons of diesel oil, up 2.3% and 11.9% respectively from the same
period last year.
The Company further strengthened its marketing efforts in the first half
of 2005, with sales network for its refined products expanding to key
regional markets and major metropolitans. Its service stations reached
17,215, an increase of 3.2% from a year ago.
