Ming Dynasty Mausoleum forbids automobiles

www.chinanews.cn 2006-02-22 16:17:01

Ming (1368-1644AD) Xiaoling Mausoleum in Jiangsu's Nanjing City
instituted a ban on automobiles in its sacred avenue starting from Feb.
21, 2006. Vehicles which used to enter the Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum
scenic spot through Taiping (heavenly peace) Gate have to avoid the
sacred avenue of Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. The precious stone statues
called "Military Officers and Civilians" dated back to 6 centuries ago no
longer have to suffer waste gas emitted by autos.
