Haier kicks off project in Chongqing

Haier Group, the largest Chinese washing machine maker, said yesterday it
had begun work on its fourth washer production base in Chongqing, with
the total investment to reach 2.8 billion yuan.
The production base will focus on high-end washers for export and the
production capacity will be 3 million units, taking Haier's total
high-end washer production to 5 million and its total washer production
to 13 million.
